Approaching Kingswear

Leave the M5 at junction 31 (A30/A38) and proceed onto the A38.

Two miles later having just passed the Kennford Services take the left-hand lanes at the approach to the junction with the A380 (signposted Torquay) and then ascend.

Ten and half miles later as you approach `The Penn Inn` at the junction with the A382, stay on the A380 by taking the second exit at the roundabout.

Over the next two miles you will pass `The Sloop` and `Hare and Hounds` public houses.

A further half a mile on at the junction with the A3022, again keep on the A380 by taking the second exit at the roundabout (signposted Brixham).

Over the next three miles you will approach three more roundabouts at Gallows Gate, Preston Down and Churscombe Cross. At each of these roundabouts take the second exit and continue along the A380 until you reach the junction with the A385/A3022 just under two miles later where you will proceed at the traffic signals onto the A3022.

Just over two miles later at the junction with the A379 turn right at the traffic lights and carry along the A3022 for almost a mile and then turn right at the junction of the A379(N) onto the A379 (signposted Dartmouth via Ferry).

Two miles later at the junction with the B3205 (signposted Dartmouth via Ferry) keep left.  You also need to take the left turn after the graveyard. 

This will take you to Higher Contour Road which leads down into Ridley Hill.

Steps sign posted "Private  - Woodland Terrace" are situated on the estuary side of the road between a flat roofed light blue house called "Top Deck" and a pink house called "High Gables".  These steps are the access to our holiday home - Rose Cottage, 1 Woodland Terrace, this year we have painted the cottage Wedgewood Blue and white gloss.

At the top and bottom of the stairs is a light switch which illuminates the stairs for eight minutes.  It is essential that you bring a torch.
